For the 2011 race season, Host1.com and our own Joe Girling are competing in the Dunlop Production Touring Car series. Joe is in his first year of circuit racing and thus far is proving to be a competitive runner in the series.
Throughout the 2011 season, Joe has been receiving coaching both in testing and at race meetings, by one of the best saloon car racing drivers in the country, namely 2 time British Touring Car Championship champion Matt Neal, currently fighting for the 2011 BTCC title in his Honda Racing - Honda Civic prepared by Team Dynamics. Matt has helped Joe to hone his skills, improve racecraft, and has also helped him to understand the standard of driving required to get to his goal – the BTCC.
The car we chose to use in this championship is a Vauxhall Astra VXR, tuned to deliver a maximum of 210 BHP/tonne, combined with slick tyres, race suspension, and a few other tricks makes for a seriously quick machine, effectively a miniature BTCC car.
